Copyright & Takedown

Your uploads

Qondi lets you upload study material so it can tutor you from it. Everything you upload is private to your account. Other users can't see it, and we don't publish it.

South Africa's Copyright Act (section 12) allows "fair dealing" with a work for your own private study. Using your own notes and course material you have legitimate access to, to study for yourself, will usually fall within this. It's still your responsibility to make sure you're allowed to use what you upload. Don't upload material you obtained unlawfully, such as pirated textbooks.

Material Qondi creates

Study guides, practice tests and explanations are created for you to use in your own learning. Qondi summarises and explains ideas in its own words. It does not copy out whole texts, and if you notice it doing so, please flag it.

If you think your copyright is being infringed

Because uploads are private, infringement on Qondi is unlikely to be visible to you. If you believe your work is being infringed through Qondi, send a notice to hello@qondi.co.za with:

  1. your full name, address, phone number and email;
  2. the copyrighted work you say is being infringed;
  3. the material you say infringes it, and enough information for us to find it;
  4. a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorised by you, your agent or the law;
  5. a statement that the information in your notice is correct;
  6. your signature (an electronic signature is fine).

This follows the takedown notice format in section 77 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act. We'll act promptly, and where appropriate tell the user concerned, who may respond. Knowingly making a false notice may lead to liability for any damages it causes.

Accounts that repeatedly infringe will be closed.
